The earliest surviving instruction manual is that of Xenophon, which outlines the practice of hunting with dogs and seeks to justify its use in education and training for war. Arrian's treatise some 500 years later is a commentary on Xenophon and marks a revolution in the practice of hunting. The Greek texts are given along with an English translation and commentary.
