Forrest J Ackerman, affectionately known as Forry, has been a part of the science fiction and horror universe for more than 70 years. He wrote and published some of the earliest articles about science fiction and fantasy films as a genre. Playing bit parts in low-budget horror films, he became well known in Hollywood studios for collecting film memorabilia. In 1957 Forry edited his first professional magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland, and continued to do so for more than 20 years.
