Uss Constellation From Frigate to Sloop of War

Geoffrey M. Footner served as a U.S. naval officer in the Pacific and European theaters during World War II. During his career in international shipping, he pioneered combined land, air, and sea transportation between the interior United States and Europe and Africa in the 1970s. He left this segment of his career in 1980 to tend to his vineyards on the eastern shore of Maryland, to sail the Chesapeake Bay, and to write. His articles and books on sailing craft, shipbuilding, pilot boats, and Baltimore schooners have been published in France and Great Britain as well as in the United States. In 2002 the Maryland Historical Society awarded Footner the Marion V.
