Bill Fleischman has been a member of the Philadelphia Daily News sports staff for more than 30 years. During the 1970s he covered the Philadelphia Flyers (authoring a book on Flyers' goaltender Bernie Parent called Bernie, Bernie), and since then he has served as an assistant sports editor, covering auto racing, tennis, sports on television, and hockey. He is past president of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association and the Professional Hockey Writers Association. He has contributed to a number of other books on Nascar and has been the Nascar correspondent for leading car magazine Autoweek for more than 32 years.
