SUMMARY

Need to count to ten with a Southern accent? These redneck babies will show you how! From Moon Pies to magnolias and kudzu to catfish, ten diapered dynamos get into all kinds of down-home trouble. Children will love counting down, then up again, to the babies' adventures, while adults will hoot at the hilarious rhymes. In this humorous counting book, author David Davis and illustrator Sue Marshall Ward poke gentle fun at their own "redneck" backgrounds while celebrating what it is like to grow up in the South.Having honed his skills by studying fine arts at Stephen F. Austin University in Texas, David Davis has published pen-and-ink artwork, cartoons, poems, humor, and short stories in various magazines and newspapers. His efforts earned him an award from the Mississippi Press Association for his political cartoons. He is the creator of "Travels with Grandpaw," an Internet comic strip. With Redneck Night Before Christmas, Trucker's Night Before Christmas, and Nurse's Night Before Christmas, Davis established himself as a writer of humor that appeals to both children and adults. His book Jazz Cats was a 2002 International Reading Association/Children's Book Council "Children's Choices" selection. Davis makes regular school, library, and conference presentations. David Davis lives in Fort Worth, TexasSue Marshall Ward was born in Houston, Texas, to a family of artists. Her mother worked as an illustrator, while her grandmother and aunt were both painters.
