Sociolinguistic Variation and Change

Peter Trudgill, who learnt most of his linguistics at Edinburgh University, is Professor of English Linguistics at the bilingual University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and has an Honorary Doctorate from Uppsala University. His main research interests are in sociolinguistics and dialects of English.
