This book’s title and content symbolize situations and events that happen in our lives. Often our most vivid memorie are those we wish we could forget. These events can haunt us for years. I didn’t use times or exact dates because I wanted to encourage the reader to compare a character to someone they know. The way I see it, everybody has their own ghost. We are living in a society that places exemptions on those with the proper income and affiliation. You used to walk by that bum, laugh at that crazy veteran, and simply assumed that people were either cheap or dumb if they didn’t have health insurance. That is, until your mother got laid off, or your son got killed in Iraq, or your house was destroyed by a storm. You had everything covered, except renter insurance, and now the FEMA checks have stopped coming. I don’t know…maybe that’s just how it goes down in my ’hood.Jones, Derek is the author of 'Separate but Equal', published 2007 under ISBN 9781424179534 and ISBN 142417953X.
