Written and created by Jan Estep as an artist publication, "Searching for Ludwig Wittgenstein, Lake Eidsvatnet, Skjolden, Sogn, Norway" is a two-sided, four-color, offset-printed map, the first to formally document the geographic site of a small hut that Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) built overlooking the fjords of Norway. Wittgenstein used the hut periodically throughout his lifetime as a place to write in relative isolation. The illustrated map includes topographic details of the exact location, historical information about Wittgenstein's relationship to Norway, a detailed trail drawing with photographic illustrations, plus a philosophical essay about his work and ideas as well as the author's search for the remains of the hut. The map is 24"w x 32"w unfolded, but ships folded 8"h x 4"w.Estep, Jan is the author of 'Searching for Ludwig Wittgenstein, Lake Eidsvatnet, Skjolden, Sogn, Norway', published 2007 under ISBN 9780980176414 and ISBN 0980176417.
