Lucky is a bufflehead duck - and a lucky duck. She lives with her family "Cappy" the oldest, "Tuggy" the fearful one, "Webster" the messy eater, and "Mudhole" who likes to play in the mud. They live with their parents on a beautiful lake in a town called Winona, Minnesota. Lucky is nearsighted and when her mother gets her a pair of glasses, she sets out on her own to find a four-leaf clover. On her quest, Lucky finds trouble and a new friend who shows her the true spirit of cooperation. This is the first book of a series for 2-6 year olds which Marianne Morrison conceived and wrote for her grandchildren. In subsequent stories, each sibling duck has an adventure. They engage in social behaviors including fighting, nurturing, and supporting others and each other. While each duck has different markings making it unique, they resemble each other in their behavior as families sometimes do. Children and parents can draw parallels about family life and social interaction. Morrison's first published book, Cross Your Heart/Hope To Die (Shapolsky Publishers, New York, 1988), is a personal account of providing hospice care for her first husband, Don Rice. This is her first venture into children's literature.Morrison, Marianne is the author of 'Saddleshoe Quackers Present Lucky's Adventure', published 2004 under ISBN 9780970957535 and ISBN 097095753X.
