Dom David Bird is a monk of the Benedictine order. He studied theology at Belmont Abbey in England and at Fribourg University in Switzerland. He taught ecclesiology and fundamental theology at Belmont Abbey for 11 years and served on an ecumenical panel advising the Anglo-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC). He has also worked as a parish priest in England and in Peru. In 1981 he was sent to Tambogrande in northern Peru to start a monastic foundation.
