This story tells about an innocent young woman whose husband's unexpected death throws her into the grips of poverty. It seems like an innocuous tale until she raises the level of the challenge after the only opportunity to present itself requires her to take part in the creation of pornography and pornographic films. Her talents seem obvious, but her best talents lay dormant until Tim O?Day uncovers them a little bit at a time. He offers to be her mentor. She resists. She has compunctions, she says, and she knows what that means. Her criticism of porn, that it is immoral, harmful and dishonest, may be one most folks would certify. She learns through a misfortunate series of adventures there is not much in our lives that is not dishonest or really very moral. Life itself is harmful, since it leads us step by step toward death. This discovery turns her around and turns her into a force to be reckoned with by the end of the story. The story progresses while she learns, to her horror, more about her deceased husband and the way he provided for his family. She has been living in the midst of sin while blinded to it by her ambivalence. He has made her famous while she hid behind a paper wall built of her own naivety. To what end? For what sick purpose? Will she throw it all away for the sake of her own self-image? You'll know the answers when you know the rest of her story.Whitling, Lloyd Harrison is the author of 'Problem with Dying', published 2006 under ISBN 9781427608918 and ISBN 1427608911.
