Oecd Territorial Outlook 2001

Territorial development is the newest policy field in the OECD. It responds to the trends of globalisation and sustainability by helping cities and regions within countries to enhance and exploit their assets. This first edition of Territorial outlook arises from the work of the Territorial Development Service of OECD, which is responsible for those policies which have a spatial dimension, whether they relate to regional, urban, rural or local development. Differential rates of development between territories or regions within the same country are assessed by a multisectoral approach, using economic, social, transport, agricultural, environmental and industrial issues.
