Meeting the MDG Drinking Water and Sanitation Targets

More than one billion people, or one is six of the world's population, lack access to safe drinking water, whilst 2.6 billion people lack basic sanitation resources. As part of the Millennium Development Goals, the international community has set water supply and sanitation targets to tackle these problems.
