Managing Sustainable Tourism Development

A number of countries in Asia and the Pacific consider tourism to be an important vehicle for economic and social development. In order to sustain tourism, it is necessary for countries to address various issues arising from tourism's contribution to development in a comprehensive, systematic way. This publication attempts to address these issues and is divided into three chapters. Chapter I discusses challenges and opportunities for sustainable tourism development. Chapter II deals with issues on sustainable tourism development with special attention to community-based tourism development and coastal tourism management.
