SUMMARY

Mark Willner is Chairman of the social studies department at Midwood High School At Brooklyn College. He has also taught in New York City at Morris High School, Wadleigh (Harlem) Evening High School, and Temple Emanu-El Religious School. He was selected as the Outstanding Social Studies Supervisor in New York State (1991), and received similar honors in New York City (1984, 1988, and 1992). He was named the State's Distinguished Social Studies Educator in 1997. As a recipient of Fulbright, N.E.H., and other grants, Willner has studied and traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. He is a past President of the New York City Social Studies Supervisors Association (S.S.S.A.), and was an Executive Board member of the New York State S.S.S.A. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the New York City Association of Teachers of Social Studies/United Federation of Teachers. (A.T.S.S./U.F.T.). He is the chief author of Barron's Global Studies, Volume II. He has also contributed to Barron's Regents Exams and Answers, Global Studies, Barron's Regents Exams and Answers, U.S. History and Government, and CLEP (How to Prepare for the College Level Exam Program). Mary Martin is a social studies teacher at Greene Central School in Greene, New York. She was a contributing author to Barron's Regents Exams and Answers, Global Studies, for which she wrote the Introduction and Glossary sections. Jerry Weiner, Ph.D. is a professor at Kean University in New Jersey, where he is the Coordinator of the Secondary Education Program. He received his doctorate in Latin American History with a specialization in Brazilian History from the City University of New York. Weiner was Chairman of the social studies departments at New York City's Louis D. Brandeis and Boys and Girls High Schools from 1980-1997. He is a co-author of Barron's Global Studies, Volume II. David Moore has taught social studies in New York State in both the Herricks School District on Long Island and the Webster Central School District in Webster. He has also had extensive teaching experience overseas in England and India. As a winner of several grants, Moore pursued graduate studies in India, Indonesia, Ireland, and Jamaica. Other grants enabled him to attend study seminars at Earlham College and at Hampton, Michigan, and Syracuse Universities. George Hero has taught in the social studies department of Midwood High School At Brooklyn College in New York City since 1984. He is also the founder and director of the Social Science Research program at Midwood. A specialist in Eastern European History, he has also taught at Brooklyn College and Long Island University. Hero serves as the co-Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee of the World Federation for Mental Health. He is a co-author of Barron's Global Studies, Volume II. In recent years, he has worked on a new edition of American diplomat George Horton's account of the persecution of Christians in Turkey, The Blight of Asia.Willner, Mark is the author of 'Let's Review Global History and Geography', published 2000 under ISBN 9780764112072 and ISBN 0764112074.
