SUMMARY

The story of Letha E. House, a Medina County, Ohio philanthropist who was abandoned as an infant and raised in Medina County by foster parents. In 1900, when she was twenty-years-old, Letha discovered her biological family, the Corrigans of Cleveland. They were a major force in the development of the iron, steel and shipping industries in Cleveland. In time, she connected with her family, was accepted into the fold and eventually inherited a great deal of money from their estates. Living simply, she chose to let her estate accumulate until just prior to her death when she established a series of three trusts that continue to fund education, historic preservation and green space projects in Medina County.Letha E. House : From Foundling to Philanthropist, was published 2004 under ISBN 9780974648316 and ISBN 0974648310.
