Dr. Jane K. Cullum is a member of the Technical Staff of the Computer and Computational Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory Dr. Ralph A. Willoughby (1923-2001) was a member of the Research Staff in the Mathematical Sciences Department in IBM Research from 1957-1991. He organized the first Symposium on Sparse Matrices (1968), and some have called him the "father" of sparse matrix theory.
