Robert Zaller, poet, critic, and historian, is the author of four previous verse collections: The Year One, Lives of the Poet, Invisible Music, and For Empedocles. His other books include The Cliffs of Solitude: A Reading of Robinson Jeffers, and he is, with Lili Bita, the translator of Thirty Years in the Rain: The Selected Poetry of Nikiforos Vrettakos (Somerset Hall Press). His The Discourse of Legitimacy in Early Modern England will be published in 2007 by Stanford University Press. He is Professor of History at Drexel University.
