Henner Furtig is an Arabist and a historian at the Center for Modern Oriental Studies in Berlin. He has carried out extensive research on the contemporary politics and history of the Middle East, particularly of Iran and the Gulf Arab countries. His field of interest includes the Iranian Revolution of 1979-80, the Iran-Iraq War (1980-8) and Iran's foreign policy throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
