Insight Guide New Orleans

This edition builds on an earlier edition to the city also project-edited by Southern-girl-turned-Londoner Martha Ellen Zenfell, a journalist and editor who has been in charge of many North American Insight Guides. Zenfell had the ideas for the book, then found the writers and sought out the photographers. First on the list was Honey Naylor, long-term French Quarter resident, who now lives in the Louisiana home in which she was born. Not only is she this book's main writer, but she's also our woman-on-the-spot, who keeps London informed of the many changes to the area. Naylor was responsible for the 2003 update, too. Our other specialists include: historian Clive Hardy; newspaper woman Iris T. Kelso; editor and publisher Errol Laborde; editor and novelist Susan Larson; music producer Kalamu ya Salaam; and broadcaster Tom Fitzmorris. Other local tidbits came from Arthur Hardy, Patti Nickell, Mel Leavitt, and Gaspar J. "Buddy" Stall. The photographs came from various sources, but the overall tone and feel can be put down to the images of Ping Amranand and Big Easy snappers Syndey Byrd, Alex Demyan and Brian Gauvin, who also penned a couple of pieces for us.
