Faye Brown paseed away in 2006. She was responsible for educating many generations of ICD-9-CM coders. The first edition of the ICD-9-CM Coding Handbook was developed by the AHA’s Central Office on ICD-9-CM staff and published in 1979. Mrs. Brown, in cooperation with the AHA’s Central Office on ICD-9-CM, authored and revised subsequent editions.
