William Trombello graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BS in Education and a major in Industry and Technology. Upon graduation Bill taught at College of DuPage, and at Forest View High School. In 1982 Mr. Trombello accepted a position with the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors Corporation. Electro-Motive is one of the primary manufacturers of locomotives worldwide. As Electro-Motive's Senior Instructor he taught students how to repair locomotives throughout the United States and abroad in such countries as England, Ireland and Australia. Mr. Trombello’s inspiration to write "How a Real Locomotive Works" can be credited to the Canadian National Railway's replica locomotive "Little Obie". While riding aboard "Little Obie" in Chicago's St. Patrick's Day parade, the author was amazed at how young and old alike were thrilled by "Little Obie" and it's important message promoting safety at railroad crossings. The book came to life through the artistic creativity of Brian Diskin, the support of the author’s wife Patricia and the unwavering support of one of the author’s best friends, a brilliant educator and mentor, Mark Kolodziej.Trombello, William is the author of 'How a Real Locomotive Works', published 2006 under ISBN 9781933449210 and ISBN 1933449217.
