High Temperature Superconducting Electronics Basis for Materials and Device Structures

This work contains the results of a research project on new electronics based on high temperature superconductors. This research project was performed by Chiba Institute of Technology, Japan and was partly financed by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. As is stated in the overview of the researches on high temperature superconducting electronics, in the early days, it was the target of concentration to achieve higher temperatures and well defined superconducting translation in the sintered specimens. Interests rapidly shifted into measuring magnetic transition, to get better crystallinity in thin film specimens. The apparatuses employed were rather limited such as the simple sputtering method and electron beam coevaporation system. Apparatuses and technologies for both fabrication and characterization could be depended on, however, but did not permit researchers to proceed further in those days. After 3 years, the situation has been very much improved both in apparatuses and technologies for preparation and characterization. Now multilayered structures are intensively used experiments to examine every aspect such as composition, crystallinity, surface degradation, morphology, electric and magnetic properties, epitaxy especially for heterostructure etc. Many important knowledge and results which are useful and valuable for future development of high temperature superconducting electronics have been accumulated in this work.Harada, Ko is the author of 'High Temperature Superconducting Electronics Basis for Materials and Device Structures' with ISBN 9789051991277 and ISBN 9051991274.
