His great-great-grandfather was in charge of the planting and care of of the trees on the estate from 1820-1860, and his great-grandfather was a Royal Gamekeeper for 53 years. Other family members were gamekeepers, gatekeepers, dog keepers, warreners, woodmen, wardens, royal dressmakers and teachers.
