Born and raised in upstate New York, the author writes about his early years on the farm, the summer with a traveling circus, the one-room schoolhouse days, progressing into World War ll and then Homewood Bound. Working at WOR Mutual Broadcasting Company in New York and meeting the celebrities of the time, he amassed a total credit of some sixty minutes of fame. The Gapfiller Project in Labrador was an assignment to fill the voids between the main Distant Early Warning Stations (Dew Line) that left gaps in the U.S. radar shield. This was accomplished by constructing seven intermediate stations and caused the author at one time to become lost at sea. After Labrador, there was the battle with the Tuscarora Indians on the Niagara Frontier, going West to California and the highlights of working in some seventeen foreign countries as well.Writing hundreds of serious reports and a few manuals in between in reference to the projects worked, "Gapfillers," covers the lighter side of working in the U.S. and overseas. The stories are told in hope of making one smile, laugh, with some sadness and a bit of historical data related to the country itself. There's even a secret recipe passed on to the reader as one of the many "lessons learned."
