From The Old World To The New provides an overview of Jewish life in Germany as far back as the twelfth century. For over 300 years, Jews were barred from living in Nuremberg and the author's ancestors were the first Jews who were permitted back into the city in 1851. Although the Hopf family made significant cultural and business contributions to the city, less than 100 years later Nazi persecution made life in Nuremberg for Jews an impossible choice. This is the story of Peter's family, his life in the old country, their temporary stay in England, and their adaptation and growth in the new country of their choice. Landing in New York near the beginning of World War II, the family got a small foothold on their new lives. Peter got his education in the New York City school system and subsequently earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree before opening his architectural practice. In the 1970s, he moved to California where he currently lives and where he is actively involved in a variety of community activities, as well as serving as a consultant to property managers. He has written numerous magazine articles and is the author of three books dealing with subjects impacting the practice of architecture.Hopf, Peter S. is the author of 'From The Old World To The New', published 2004 under ISBN 9781932852233 and ISBN 1932852239.
