Fort Collins Flash Flood of July 28, 1997 : Service Assessment Initial Report, National Weather Service

On July 27, 1997, rainfall began across the northern Colorado front range & continued for more than 30 hours, causing numerous streams to become swollen with runoff water. The persistent rain & local topography set the stage for the Ft. Collins' (FC) July 28 flash flood event (FCFFE), which caused considerable damage & resulted in 5 deaths. This report will help to understand the meteorological & hydrological environ. leading up to the FCFFE, to assess serv. & products provided by the Nat. Weather Serv.
