Diane K. Stanley (1937 - 1994) was born at a United Fruit Company hospital on Guatemala's north coast where her Welsh father and American mother were employed by the Company. She and her family lived for several years in Tiquisate, the headquarters for UFCO's south coast plantations. Upon her retirement from the U.S. Foreign Service, she conducted a thorough survey of the literature available on the Company as well as numerous interviews in Guatemala and elsewhere.
