SUMMARY

The late Jim Webb was a senior Eastern Airlines captain. He had been flying since age 13, when he learned to fly with a barnstormer. For 15 years he worked as an Eastern Airlines flight instructor and check pilot. During that time he trained almost 500 pilots, with no failures and above-average results. Webb also conducted rating rides, proficiency checks, and simulator instruction and checkins. During World War II he was a B-24 pilot in the Central Pacific, flying 33 missions and earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses and four Air Medals. After the war, Webb flew a variety of charter and corporate aircraft before joining Eastern. He logged more than 35,000 hours in the cockpit William D. "Billy" Walker Jr. was born into an aviation family and soloed on his 16th birthday. Walker's airline career began in 1967 with Frontier Airlines, where he spent two decades. He spent another 11 years at America West Airlines before joining JetBlue Airways as part of the start-up team. There he was a line captain as well as a senior check airman, FAA designated examiner (air crew program designee, APD), and test pilot on the Airbus A-320. He is rated in numerous transport types and has flown more than 250 varieties of military and civilian aircraft. He is FAA airline transport pilot rated, is a certified flight instructor (CFII) for both single- and multi-engine airplanes, and holds a certified repairman certificate.
