Elleston Trevor (1920-1995) During his prolific career of more than 50 years, Elleston Trevor (born Trevor-Dudley Smith) published more than 100 books including thrillers, mysteries, plays, short stories, and juvenile novels. His best-known characters were the indestructible British agent Quiller, from the popular series of novels that he wrote under the name Adam Hall, and crime-solver extraordinaire Hugo Bishop, whose adventures he penned as Simon Rattray.
