Ohio-bred David Pogue never touched a computer - nor wanted to - until Apple Computer suckered him into it by selling Macs half-price at Yale, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 1985. After a few years as a Broadway theatre conductor, he spent 12 years writing the triple-award-winning "Desktop Critic" column for Macworld magazine. He now writes the weekly "State of the Art" personal-technology column for the New York Times. Pogue is one of the world's best-selling how-to authors, having written or co-written seven books in the For Dummies series (including Macs, iMacs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music), along with PalmPilot: The Ultimate Guide, several computer-humor books, and a technothriller, Hard Drive, which was a New York Times "notable book of the year." He's also the creator of the Missing Manual series (www.missingmanuals.com), whose current and upcoming titles include Mac OS X, iPhoto, Office X, AppleWorks 6, and iMovie 2. With his madly adored wife Jennifer, son Kelly, daughter Tia, and Bullwinkle the Wonderdog, he lives in Connecticut, where he does magic tricks and plays the piano. The family photos lurk on the World Wide Web at www.davidpogue.com.Pogue, David is the author of 'Flat-Screen Imac for Dummies' with ISBN 9780764516634 and ISBN 0764516639.
