SUMMARY

As a collegian, Ed Pinckney was one of the finest players in Villanova history. A four-year starter from 1981-85, Pinckney scored 1,865 points (seventh most in school history) and collected 1,107 rebounds (fourth in school annals) over the course of his career. His role in Villanova's singular athletic achievement-the 1985 NCAA championship-earned Ed Pinckney Most Outstanding Player honors and a retired jersey, and he has returned to his alma mater to help teach a new generation of Wildcats as an assistant coach. A No. 1 draft choice of the Phoenix Suns in 1985, Pinckney spent 12 years in the NBA as a player. In 1997, Pinckney joined the Miami Heat organization as part of its radio and television broadcasting team. Pinckney and his wife, Rose Marie, reside in Villanova, Pennsylvania, with their four children: Shea, Spencer, Austin and Andrea. Ed Pinckney's Tales from the Villanova Hardwood marks author Robert Gordon's third book about beloved, overachieving Philadelphia teams. His previous works, The Team That (They Said) Had Nothing but a Championship: The 1960 Eagles, and More Than Beards, Bellies, and Biceps: The Story of the 1993 Phillies and the Phillie Phanatic Too, are as long on insight as they are in title. Besides writing books, the former energy industry executive currently energizes a number of businesses on team building, leadership, and communication strategy. He is a respected regional travel and restaurant writer, humor columnist, and guitar teacher, who also performs on guitar around Philly and abroad.Gordon, Bob is the author of 'Ed Pinckney's Tales From The Villanova Hardwood The Story of the 1985 NCAA champs', published 2004 under ISBN 9781582618098 and ISBN 1582618097.
