Nick McCamley was born at Bradford-on-Avon in 1950. Always passionately interested in local history and industrial archaeology, his accidental stumbling on the remains of the Corsham Ammunition Depot in 1967 resulted in a research project that became a thirty year obsession. Early in 1984 he acquired Monkton Farleigh Mine, the largest and most run-down of the Corsham sub-depots which, following an arduous restoration programme, was opened to the public as a heritage site up until 1991Nick J.
