Compilation of Federal Ethics Laws

The year 2003 marked the 25th anniversary of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, which established the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) & charged it with providing leadership in setting ethics policy for the executive branch. The Act also specified certain statutory responsibilities of agency ethics officials & thus made OGE & ethics officials partners in fulfilling the Act's goals. The OGE issued this compilation of Federal ethics laws in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the 1978 Act.
