Clues from the Bidding

Julian Pottage grew up on the South Coast of England. He read mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute. Born into a bridge playing family, he took up the game at an early age and qualified as a teacher at 18. He writes regularly for both Bridge Magazine and Bridge Plus and is a contributor to the 2003 Daily Bridge Calendar. Julian has written six books and co-written another eight, mostly on card play. He has won several National events and one International. His contributions to theory include discovering several squeezes and devising a defense to 1NT. When he is not busy with bridge, work or family, Julian may have a camera in his hand or be involved in church activities. After spending many years managing occupational pension plans, he now works as a consultant on pensions and savings products.
