David P. Hanson, Ph.D., J.D. is an Associate Professor of International Business at the School of Business, Duquesne University. He is also the Technical Director for CITRA, the Center for International Regulatory Assistance. Dave has a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, a J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Michigan Law School and a BA from Haverford College. Before coming to Duquesne, Dave was an attorney-advisor for legislation with the U.S. Maritime Administration. His responsibilities included drafting legislation and liaison with Congress and the Office of Management and Budget. He also spent several years in international litigation with a leading New York admiralty firm, Burlingham Underwood and Lord. He served for three years on destroyers as an officer in the US Naval reserves. In 1997, Dave was awarded the President's E Certificate for Export Service for his work as the ELAN regional coordinator. He is also a member of the Trade Expert Task Force. The Task Force is charged with defining the requirements of the trade specialist certification program that is being developed by the Department of Commerce, the SBA and NASBITE. He was also a member of the Governor's Academic Task Force that was charged with reviewing Pennsylvania trade promotion policies and programs. Together with Dr. Mary McKinney, he is the co-author of a several grant and contract proposals that have funded the development of CITRA and a number of other projects.
