Monica Ramirez-Montagut is Curator of Collections and Public Programs at Price Tower Arts Center since 2004. She received her degree in architecture from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), Mexico, with an award-winning dissertation on Interpretation of Jose Villagrán Garcia’s Architectural Theory in the 1954 University Campus. She then pursued postgraduate studies in the theory and history of architecture at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain, from which she received her master’s degree with a dissertation on Project for a Modern Museum and her Ph.D. with a cum laude dissertation on Marcel Broodthaers: His Museum. She has lectured widely on this subject, using it to illuminate the relationship between contemporary art and its institutional context. In the field of contemporary art, Ms. Ramirez-Montagut served as Assistant Curator at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut and worked as an independent curator in New York City. Most recently, she was Program Coordinator for the Mexico Now festival, organized by Arts International Inc., New York.
