The Career Force research project is the second phase of a two-phase Army program to develop a selection and classification system for enlisted personnel, based on expected future performance. In the first phase, Project A, a large and versatile database was collected from a representative sample of Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and used to (a) validate the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and (b)develop and validate new predictor and criterion measures representing the entire domain of potential measures. Building on this foundation, Career Force research has finished developing the selection/classification system and evaluating its effectiveness, with emphasis on assessing second-tour performance. The final year of the project was devoted to developing optimal test batteries for predicting first- and second-tour performance, attrition, and reenlistment prospects, and estimating gains that might be expected from their use. The present report summarizes the entire Project A/Career Force research program.Human Resources Research Organization Alexandria VA is the author of 'Building and Retaining the Career Force : New Procedures for Accessing and Assigning Army Enlisted Personnel--Final Report', published 1996 under ISBN 9781423573678 and ISBN 1423573676.
