Tom A. Coburn, former Republican U.S. Congressman for Oklahoma who kept his promise to serve only three terms, is a family medicine and obstetrics physician who maintained his medical practice and delivered more than 400 babies during his tenure in Congress. During this time, he was the subject of profiles in the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. President George W. Bush selected Dr. Coburn to co-chair the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS. Coburn also serves as the Chairman of Americans for Limited Government, an organization committed to restoring our founders' vision of limited government. Coburn and his wife, Carolyn, have three children. John Hart was Dr. Coburn's press secretary from 1997 until 2000. In 1994, he became the youngest person ever to win an Amy Writing Award.
