Guillermo (Bill) V. Vidal became the first immigrant Mayor of Denver on January 11, 2011. A native of Camaguey, Cuba, Guillermo (Bill) V. Vidal first arrived in the United States via "Operation Peter Pan" in 1961. A civil engineer who has devoted more than 30 years to serving the public, Vidal has led numerous governmental agencies including the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Denver Regional Council of Governments and Denver's Public Works Department.
