Cesar Vallejo (1892-1938) was born in Peru to a family of Spanish and native descent. After imprisonment on false political charges and the lackluster reception of The Black Heralds in his own country, Vallejo moved to Paris, where he became active in Marxist politics and the antifascist campaign in Spain, all the while publishing essays, political pieces, plays, and short stories. Vallejo died in Paris, in utter poverty, on the day Franco's armies entered MadridVallejo, César is the author of 'Black Heralds', published 2003 under ISBN 9781891270161 and ISBN 1891270168.
