Peter Abrahams, South African Novelist and essayist, was born in Vrededorp, Johannesburg in 1919. His best known works include MINE BOY, THE PATH OF THUNDER, TELL FREEDOM, A WREATH FOR UDOMO, and THE VIEW FROM COYABA. Abrahams is credited for the encouragement and example he provided as one of the first black African writers of the 1950s and '60s to others, including Chinua Achebe and Ngugi wa Thiong'o. Since 1951 Abrahams has lived in the Caribeean island of Jamaica where he continues his career as novelist, editor, and political commentator.Peter Abrahams' many books include Dark Testament, Mine Boy, The Path of Thunder, Wild Conquest, Return to Goli, Tell Freedom: Memories of Africa, and Jamaica: An Island Mosaic.Abrahams, Peter is the author of 'Black Experience in the 20th Century An Autobiography and Meditation' with ISBN 9780253338334 and ISBN 0253338336.
