Born in Brooklyn, Sullivan attended New York’s High School of Art and Design and then the School of Visual Arts, during which time he began photographing his fellow artists, family and friends from the art, club and fashion worlds. Now, thirty years later, Sullivan has accumulated thousands of images that he views as a visual diary of his life, capturing the people and scenes around him. From this photographic archive he creates paintings, drawings and photographs, primarily portraits and still lifes.
