Big Con

A large comics convention is a sea of humanity, with tens of thousands of people thronging. And yet, like any sea it is made up of individual drops. Each of those people has hopes and dreams, scams and schemes, and reasons for being at this place, at this time. The Big Con is an original graphic novel, but it's made up of smaller segments, tales of individuals that form a larger picture when brought together. There are stories about the fans, about romance between participants in the costume contest. There are stories about the enthusiastic young creator whose star is on the rise, and the older creator who can find plenty of people to praise his old work but no one to publish his new efforts. There are the movie stars disguising themselves so they can go out amongst the crowd, and the poor comics fan who has to make it through the entire convention weekend with less than five dollars, no food, and no hotel room. Some of these stories are bright and happy, filled with humor, and some are more somber, showing the loneliness that one can only find in the middle of a crowd.
