AUTHOR

Rains, Bob

SUMMARY

Bob Rains started his career in the entertainment industry on April 1, 1946, with International Pictures, a small independent company that released its films through R.K.O. In April of 1978, he was forced to retire for health reasons. In the intervening 32 years, the company went through many mutations, eventually becoming Universal Pictures when it was bought by MCA, the world's largest talent agency. Mr Rains saw all of the changes, both at Universal and in Hollywood, from his vantage point in the publicity, promotion, and advertising department, except for a brief stint as Assistant Head of Casting. He relinquished that position quickly, though, not wanting to decide "who was going to eat every day." When he retired, he was Vice President, Publicity, Promotion, and Advertising. It was from this unique perspective that he gathered together the stories of the Hollywood he knew, and wrote them down in Beneath the Tinsel. Today, Mr. Rains makes his home in Southern California.Rains, Bob is the author of 'Beneath the Tinsel The Human Side of Hollywood Stars' with ISBN 9781929536016 and ISBN 1929536011.
