Benjamin Suchoff is a world-renowned authority on Bartok and his music. He was assistant to the trustee of the Bartok estate from 1953 to 1967 and successor trustee of the estate from 1968 to 1984, and served as curator of the New York Bartok archive from 1963 to 1968. He has written numerous books on Bartok, edited volumes of his works and books of critical writings on the music, lectured worldwide on the composer and his music, and contributed articles to major musicological journals.
