Jim Downton has been teaching for over thirty-five years. Currently, he is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He teaches undergraduate courses in human development and creativity and frequently offers workshops on creative teaching for graduate students and faculty. His commitment to innovative teaching has earned him the University?s two teaching excellence awards. He is also involved in the International and National Voluntary Service Training Program (INVST) at the University of Colorado, an innovative leadership training program for upper division students that emphasizes civic responsibility and community service.
