Elaine De Regnier was born in Emporia, Kansas. She was a rather curious child. As a teenager Elaine enjoyed Commerce classes and worked as a secretary in First National Bank in Chicago. Later she worked as a legal secretary assistant for the Attorney General of Kansas, where she worked for 24 years. Elaine attended the University of Illinois as well as Eureka College in Illinois. After college Elaine married and had 3 children, she then divorced and married Mr. Sommers. As a young girl she heard her father speak of his French relatives and of the useless search to expunge the great desertion charge.
