All About Outcomes is a computerized, self-directed multimedia software program for practice working in pediatric rehabilitation. This one-of-a-kind CD-ROM enables the user to select the most appropriate outcome measure to use for an individual, client, service, and/or program evaluation. This program guides you through a protocol for making decisions about outcomes developed using the modified International Classification of Impairment, Disease and Handicap (ICIDH) framework. This software program is linked to an outcome measures database of critically appraised children's outcome measures. Users select desired measurement criteria, then psychometric information on appropriate outcomes measures is provided. The interactive nature of this program allows you to choose measures for specific clinical situations and compare measures for decision-making. Over 125 outcomes measures and over 1000 literature sources are included in All About Outcomes. A study was conducted by the authors with occupational therapy and physical therapy students, and the use of the All About Outcomes-Pediatrics software in the selection of appropriate outcome measures for specific clinical scenarios. Two methods were compared, one using the software and the other using a library search. Thirty students were given two clinical scenarios and asked to select up to three appropriate outcome measures for use in that particular scenario. Each student used the All About Outcomes-Pediatrics software and the library search method. Both the method used and the clinical scenarios were randomized to control for order effect. Results of this study indicated that the All About Outcomes-Pediatrics software was significantly more accurate, took half the amount of time, and was rated as significantly easier than the library searching method.
