The volume-represents the proceedings of the "8th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering" held at the University of Hamburg, Germany, on October, 3-6, 2004. This workshop series is well established for more than two decades as an international forum for chemists and chemical engineers from industry as well as from academia interested in any aspect of polymer reaction engineering. It takes place at three years intervals and puts emphasis on new concepts and promising developments in the field of polymer reaction engineering. Particularly, this workshop offers a unique chance to discuss and learn about thermodynamics and kinetics, mixing and scale-up, dynamics and safety, on-line measurement and control, modeling and simulation of polymerization reactions and reactors.
